| I'm following Bones suggestion to use a band as a topic.
My favorite (at one time) and the band that got me into metal was Maiden. I had listened to hard rock bands, but Maiden was my first true metal band and "Live After Death" was a great album to start with. So...without us going at each others' throats...is it me or has Maiden lost it as late? I thought "The Final Frontier" was too much like "As a Matter of Life and Death". I was hoping for a return to the glory days of "Number of the Beast", "Piece of Mind", "Powerslave", etc...I was very disappointed.
What does everyone else think?

| Hi ShadowPhantom. I started also to hear heavy metal with Maiden. Actually back at 1986, my cousin gave me 4 cassettes, copies from vinyls. iron Maiden - Piece of Mind Def Leppard - Pyromania Slayer - Hell Awaits Iron Maiden - Somewhere in Time (The new lp of Maiden at this time....) So...i'm stacked from then to the Metal Paradise or Metal Hell | |

| Those are all great albums, I listen to Def Leppard and Slayer as well. I still remember the day I found a used copy (CD) of Slayer's Show No Mercy...one of my favorite Slayer albums!!!

| I just loved Iron Maiden, not only with Bruce Dickinson as a singer, but also with Paul Di'Anno !
The first bands I was listening to were Iron Maiden, Motörhead, Judas Priest etc, basically NWOBHM bands. I became a Maiden fan since 1982, before that I was still listening to other music styles as well.
I think Strappados is the best metal site on the web it is so interesting ! I come here a lot at night, just to read about old obscure bands, I even have seen some of them live back in the 80s, so I was very surprised to find demotapes on this site from obscure Belgian and Dutch bands like Battering Ram, Westfalen and even two songs of Frankenstein on the Metal Clogs compilation album. It made me so happy to hear all that music after so many years, while I first thought that it would be lost forever.
Thank you so much (x1000) and keep up the good work !

| @Sletti: We are glad that you like Strappado's blog that much. I am an old Metalhead myself from Holland. I have seen Maiden in 1980 and 1981 and both times in my home town Leiden. Yep with Paul Di'Anno! The one in 1981 was interesting one. As support act was the band More with singer Paul Mario Day who was a singer with Maiden before. You mentioned Frankenstein. I have seen them live at I think was called Aardschok dag in Eindhoven at I think Dynamo when it was a small club back then before they did Dynamo Open Air festivals. Met Crossfire, Impact, well the bands on the Metal Clogs album and I bought the album at the same day | |

Yes, I know More as well, I had their 'Warhead' album on vinyl, but it had some problem with static .. some kind of humming/buzzing noise. Not a long time ago I found the music on the internet, so I downloaded it, hoping that the quality would be better. And guess what happened ? The mp3-files had that same static noise on it :-) - LordBones wrote:

Yes, I have a friend who loves it very much and he was never able to make me listen to Frankenstein. And since they only released one single in a career of so many years, we were unable to find it. So you can imagine how happy I felt when we finally found it here on strappados !

| @Sletti2 and Bones, have you followed Di'Anno's Battlezone, Killers and solo career? He's done quite a few albums and they're pretty good!
Blaze's solo career is also going strong and his albums are also good.
I remember a day when I saw a Blaze album...I was sooo close to buying it...then...I realized it was some rap band!!! I was like WTF??? Talk about disappointment...lol
@Bones, Stay Heavy has a lot of good stuff...but what's up with the search engine? When I visit it has "This search engine sucks" on it by default...and...well, it doesn't seem to work well...was it linked to another blog that's gone?
I haven't been on a message board in some time so using the reply thing properly is eluding me at the moment...

A year ago I found a file with the name ANVIL on it, but it was worthless techno shit instead of my favorite Canadian metal band. Of course I like the Battlezone albums ('86, '87 and '98), and also all other albums with Paul Di'Anno. But I'm still collecting, of course. There's too much metal to listen to in one lifetime.

| Isn't that the truth...and not an MP3 player large enough to hold all your favorite songs/albums.
I was searching my favorite file site for Machinery's second album...I got 600+ hits on Machinery repair...lol
Maybe Strapp has is somewhere it his collection...
I bet we've all ran into the band name that seems to exist in every country...or is a nightmare to do a search for.

I like maiden albums with blaze on vocals, that is not their best work but very good for me Albums after 1995 are good, not great. songs are long and that works good in most of songs. I don't like stuff like Gates of Tomorrow, The Unbeliever and such, but there is some great tracks. what do you think?
