| Iron Maiden - Maiden America Format: Bootleg Venue: Summerfest Festival Where: Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA How: Soundboard When: June 26th, 1981 Bitrate: 320 kbps [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Tracklist: 01 - The Ides Of March 02 - Sanctuary 03 - Purgatory 04 - Wrathchild 05 - Remember Tomorrow 06 - Another Life 07 - Genghis Khan 08 - Killers 09 - Innocent Exile 10 - Twilight Zone 11 - Murders In The Rue Morgue 12 - Phantom Of The Opera 13 - Iron Maiden 14 - Running Free 15 - Transylvania 16 - Drifter Lineup: Paul Di'Anno - Vocals Steve Harris - Bass Dave Murray - Guitars Adrian Smith - Guitars Clive Burr - Drums Notes: In February of 1981 Iron Maiden launched the “Killer’s World Tour” in support of the “Killers” album. During this period Adrian Smith was added to the band on lead and rhythm guitar replacing Dennis Stratton. This release is sourced from the 97 WLPX radio broadcast of their first United States tour. Some sites have this show listed as being played on June 22 instead of the 26th. This is an excellent concert with Paul Di’Anno upfront in the mix. Sadly because of substance abuse he would be fired during this tour and replaced by Bruce Dickinson who performed his first Maiden show on October 26th 1981 at the Palasport in Bolonga, Italy. What we have here is one of his last concerts and from the sounds of the band and audience a very impressive one. | |

The home base of Iron Maiden when they started. On some album covers you still see the name appearing like on the 'Somewhere In Time' album. As far as I know the pub doesn't exist anymore but I might be mistaken.

Was recorded for the Dutch radio. I think it was for the KRO or for the VARA channel. I remember listening to it. Moreover, the day before this I have seen them in Leiden with as support act the band "More" with co-incendentaly featured a previous singer of Maiden! Paul Mario Day.

| I know you're working your way up, Bones...I can't wait til you get to the Bruce and Blaze days. I've always wanted to hear songs like Flash of the Blade, Sea of Madness, Only the Good Die Young, No Prayer For the Dying, Fortunes of War, etc. live. I'm sure they did em but if they put out a live album that included those I must have been sleeping...lol Bruce always performs great live, wish I had been a fan when they came close to me in '85, but I was 12... | |

| I have not much of bootlegs of Maiden. Only up to 1983. But one little good news is that I have a bootleg from 1986 with 'Sea of Madness' on it. But sorry I don't have bootlegs of Maiden with Blaze | |

| That's OK, Bones. I enjoy the Di'Anno bootlegs too! Hmmm...Sea of Madness is on the one from '86? I can't wait to see what other treasures are on it!
I think Blaze Bootlegs are out there somewhere...I've stumbled upon some on the net but read 'bootleg' and figured the sound quality was poor, actually many have quite good sound quality.
IMO no one can sing Remember Tomorrow like Paul, also Killers. I've heard Bruce perform those, but Paul wins as better vocalist on those and a few more. Though I have to say I like Bruce performing Iron Maiden better. Personal preference I guess.

Very nice track listing. Most notably is the track 'Sea Of Madness' which has been hardly played live! My own rip

Beware that this concert is almost 2 hours long and because the MP3's have a bitrate of 320 kbps, the file to download is BIG. 236 mb. As you can see in the tracklist, there are a couple of songs that Maiden only played during this tour (World Piece Tour) or at least played once in a while.

Hey Lord Bones, I have been listening to the Nijmegen radio bootleg and I think it's awesome, of course ! The sound quality was still remarkably good for such an old recording. Where it comes to the music, I love it all, especially 'Sanctuary' and 'Remember Tomorrow'. The guitar solo in 'Transylvania' is awesome, too. I don't think I have heard this before, which makes it an important historical document indeed. But all tracks without exception have a lot of energy in it. That's one of the reasons why I still love the old Iron Maiden line-up with Paul Di'Anno as a singer. Iron Maiden is still making music today, and I love it, but the energy of the first albums is missing a bit now. I still love them, but it's almost impossible to compare the actual 2010 music with the first two albums. cheers :drunks:

| I love the Nijmegen boot recording too Imagine this two days before this performance I saw them in Leiden and the atmosphere was the same. Pure energy and great raw Metal of Maiden. I love the Paul Di'Anno era of Maiden. You can see indeed the amount of boots I have of that time. Bruce is a great singer and performer etc. But Paul has something extra and Maiden was great, new, pure and raw. But I love the first couple albums with Bruce too upto Seventh Son... Glad you like the Nijmegen boot | |
